8. The Conjuring Spin-Off Lands October 2014 Release Date

Warner BrothersWarner BrothersRemember that creepy doll at the beginning of The Conjuring that gave you more nightmares than any of the film's subsequent horrors? Well, her name was Annabelle, and she's getting her own spin-off film, which now has an official release date. As a way to tide fans over until The Conjuring 2 arrives next year, Warner Bros. has given Annabelle an October 3, 2014 release date. Like many of the events in The Conjuring, the Annabelle doll has a real-world creepy backstory, which will be explored in the spin-off. The real-life Annabelle doll was actually a normal-looking Raggedy Ann doll, which somehow is even more sinister. The doll was given to a college student named Donna, and was kept in a home that she shared with a roomate. They soon experienced strange things with the doll, as it seemingly moved on its own, and even left them notes. The doll eventually reportedly attacked one of Donna's friends, causing them to call in a priest and give the doll an exorcism. Which didn't work, causing them to try another exorcism. That failed too, and they ultimately locked the doll away in a cabinet, where she still sits to this day. Personally, I would have burned the doll or shot it into space, but that's just me. The Conjuring director James Wan will serve as producer on this film, while The Conjuring's cinematographer, John Leonetti, will step into the director's chair. Annabelle Wallis, Ward Horton, and Alfre Woodard star. Via: Variety
