10. Pacific Rim 2 Announced For 2017

Warner Bros. PicWarner Bros. PicIt's been nearly a year since Guillermo del Toro's Jaegar vs. Kaiju blockbuster exploded onto cinema screens, and while its $400 million take at the box office is nothing to shake a stick at, it wasn't quite enough for Legendary Pictures to greenlight the sequel right away. A few weeks ago, del Toro announced that he and The Incredible Hulk scribe Zak Penn had secretly been working on a screenplay, as if they had been given the greenlight. Well, there work must have impressed the studio execs, becuase they've officially announced that the apocalypse will be cancelled again, on April 17, 2017, with del Toro in the director's chair. But wait, that's not all! del Toro will also develop an animated Pacific Rim series to debut before the sequel arrives. At this point, we have no plot details for the show or the film, and don't know whether or not the original cast will return. However, in previous interviews, del Toro hinted that at least Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi would be back for more neural drifting, while Charlie Day, and Ron Perlman are likely to appear as well.
