2. Adam Driver Circling Villainous Role In Star Wars Episode VII
Ever since Disney announced that they'd not only purchased Lucasfilm, but were continuing with the Star Wars franchise with Episode VII, fans everywhere have been uncontrollably excited about the project. Rumors and speculation have run amuck, and we still know very little about what's actually going on behind the scenes. We know that JJ Abrams is directing, from a script draft by Michael Arndt (that's being polished by Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan), and that the film will hit theaters in December 2015. Other than that, the rest is all up in the air. Sure, we've heard numerous reports that original stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford would be returning; and that Gary Oldman and Benedict Cumberbatch had been approached, but until we get an
official announcement, we're taking all of that with a grain of salt. We also don't know anything about the direction of the story or the exact time frame, and have had to wait impatiently for even the slightest hint at what's in store. Earlier this week we saw a glimmer of hope when it was announced that Adam Driver (Girls, Inside Llewyn Davis) was circling the role of the villain in the movie. No word yet on who he'd be playing exactly, but it's described to be "in the vein of Darth Vader." The news comes from Variety, who seems pretty confident that Driver is coming close to a deal. If so, he'll be the first one officially announced to star, which will hopefully open the floodgates for more details and announcements in the near future.
