7. Andrew Garfield May Play Spider-Man Until 2020

Sony has hit a little bit of a roadblock with their burgeoning Spider-Man cinematic universe; now that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has been met with divisive reviews from critics and dwindling box office returns in the United States. However, it's made over $600 million worldwide, so there's no way the studio won't move ahead with their plans for additional films. However, they may be rethinking their long-term strategy, which currently only has their titular hero, Andrew Garfield, signed for one more film. Producers Matt Tolmach and Avi Arad have expressed their disinterest in Peter Parker "passing the torch" to another Spider-Man (like, say, Miles Morales), meaning that they planned to just recast the role after Garfield vacated it. Now, it looks like they're hoping to hang onto their web-slinger for a bit longer, and have reportedly signed him on for six more years. That would push his contract to 2020, which would include not only The Amazing Spider-Man 4, but TASM 5 as well, along with potential roles in the Venom solo movie and Sinister Six spin-off. Of course, nothing has been confirmed by the studio yet, so take this news with the requisite grain of salt. (Source: The Daily Star)
