Yet another movie franchise is on the verge of getting a TV makeover. With film-based TV series like About A Boy, Fargo, The Odd Couple, Friday Night Lights, and Parenthood paving the way for movie-to-TV transitions, Hollywood is looking for more viable big screen properties to shrink down and fit on the small screen. Fox recently announced their plans to remake the 1980s Tom Hank comedy Big for TV, and now Warner Bros. is seeking a Rush Hour TV show. According to Deadline, Cougar Town co-creator will write and executive produce the show along with Blake McCormick. Brett Ratner, who directed all three of the Rush Hour films, is involved as an executive producer. The series is described as "an hourlong action comedy," and will presumably tell the same story that the films did, of a by-the-book cop from Hong Kong making his way to Los Angeles for a high-profile investigation and begrudgingly teaming up with a cocky African American LAPD officer. There's no word on casting yet, though Warner Bros. is expected to seek unknowns for the lead roles. Whoever lands the gigs will have big shoes to fill, as Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker did a fine job in the film series and were incredibly popular with audiences.
