Speaking of simple video games headed to the big screen, Sony's Angry Birds movie moved closer to actual fruition this week by landing a pretty talented voice cast. It may not be enough to win over the skeptics, but hey, it's a start. Horrible Bosses and We're the Millers star Jason Sudeikis will lead the film as Red, while Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Bill Hader, Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids) and Peter Dinklage are all set for co-starring roles as the other Angry Birds and some of the green pigs antagonists that steal their eggs. Assuming the movie adapts the popular game's thin story, that is. Gad will play Chuck, the yellow bird, McBride will play Bomb, the big black one, Rudolph will play Matilda, the white one, Hader will voice an unnamed pig, and Dinklage will lend his talents to the Mighty Eagle. Apart from the stars, other actors like Kate McKinnon (SNL), Keegan-Michael Key, Tony Hale (Arrested Development), Ike Barinholtz (MADtv), Hannibal Buress (Neighbors), Cristela Alonzo (Cristela), Jillian Bell (22 Jump Street), Danielle Brooks (Orange is the New Black), musician Romeo Santos and Youtube's Smosh duo Ian Andrew Hecox and Andrew Padilla are signed on for various small parts that will likely serve as nothing more than cameos. Fergal Reilly and Clay Kaytis are directing from a script by The Simpsons Movie's Jon Vitti. The film comes crashing into theaters on July 1, 2016.
