6. Tom Hiddleston Cast In King Kong Origin Film Skull Island

At San Diego Comic-Con this past summer, Legendary Pictures made the surprise announcement that there's a new King Kong film on the horizon, titled Skull Island. Written by Godzilla scribe Max Bernstein, the film will focus on the location of the iconic giant gorilla's origin, which is home to a plethora of strange and dangerous creatures. This week, the film landed a star and director. The Kings of Summer and You're the Worst director Jordan Vogt-Roberts will helm the film, with The Avengers and Only Lovers Left Alive star Tom Hiddleston in the lead role. Unfortunately, no other details about the project were given. However, Hiddleston is a great candidate for a role like this, and certainly has a place in the hearts of much of the fan community. Now we just need Legendary and Marvel to get together so we can get a Loki vs. King Kong vs. Godzilla movie! Check out the press release for the Hiddleston/Vogt-Roberts announcement here:
Legendary announced its plans to make a feature film based on the cinematic origins of King Kong during this year€™s San Diego Comic Con with an original draft of the script by Max Borenstein. Previous works have touched on the island, but staying on and exploring this mysterious and dangerous place offers Legendary the opportunity to take audiences deeper inside this rich world with a style and scope that parallels other Legendary productions. Universal Pictures will distribute the film on November 4, 2016. Vogt-Roberts directed and executive produced the Sundance darling THE KINGS OF SUMMER. He has also directed the pilot and multiple episodes of FX€™s new series €œYou€™re the Worst€ and is set to direct METAL GEAR SOLID for Sony. His other credits include directing the pilot of €œCocked€ for Amazon Studios and directing and executive producing the concert documentary NICK OFFERMAN: AMERICAN HAM. He is represented by UTA, 3 Arts Entertainment and attorneys Alan Wertheimer and Andy Gawker.
