5. David Ayer Could Direct A Suicide Squad Movie For Warner Bros.
While it's obvious that Warner Bros. will expand their DC Cinematic Universe not only with a Justice League film, but solo movies for characters like Wonder Woman, Shazam, and Aquaman, the prospect of a Suicide Squad movie wasn't exactly what we thought they'd make anytime soon. Luckily for us, however, the studio is reportedly taking the risk, and have their eye on End of Watch and Fury director David Ayer to make it happen. For those unfamiliar, the Suicide Squad are a team of antiheroes and supervillains, who team up and do dangerous black-ops and mercenary work for the government in exchange for commuted prison sentences. The team is led by Amanda Waller, and features such staple members as fan-favorite Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, Deathstroke, and Rick Flag. A Suicide Squad film offers plenty of opportunities for WB to explore some of the darker corners of the DC universe, while expanding it and introducing new characters at the same time. The project has been rumored for some time, with many thinking that their push for a Justice League film had set the project on the back burner. Now that Ayer is in contention for the director's spot, however, we can safely assume that Suicide Squad is in active development. How cool is that?
