1. William Shatner To Return As Captain Kirk For Star Trek 3?
While JJ Abrams has managed to bring Leonard Nimoy back as Spock twice now in the newly-rebooted Star Trek franchise, one key member of the original series has been noticeably absent: William Shatner himself, the original James T. Kirk. That may be changing with Roberto Orci's Star Trek 3, however, as Shatner has reportedly been offered a cameo role in the upcoming threequel. When Badass Digest first broke the news, Shatner and Orci immediately denied that such an arrangement was in place. It didn't take long for Shatner to change his tune, however, as he took the stage at Wizard World Nashville Comic-Con and announced that not only has he been offered a cameo, but that he would be "delighted" to take it. And why wouldn't he? He's been absent from the Trek universe for quite some time now, and hasn't shared the screen with Nimoy as the iconic Starfleet captain since 1991's Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. Here's what Shatner had to say about the possible cameo:
"Its all over the Internet that the director had held an interview and said they want Shatner and Nimoy to be in the next movie. Ill bet you J.J.s frothing at the mouth at this point. So the news is out that they have an idea that they want Leonard and myselfthey might want Leonard and myself in it. But I would love to do it. But how do you get me fifty years later into the movie? I mean how do you rationalize it. I know its science fiction, but even I couldnt come up with an idea. So thats the news on that.
