2. Dwayne Johnson To Play Black Adam In Shazam
Dwayne Johnson has been circling and teasing a role in a DC Comics film for quite some time now. The rumor mill has gone through all of the possible characters, from Green Lantern to Lobo, Black Adam and Shazam, and even Doomsday and Darkseid. After a long wait, Johnson finally announced himself what role he'll play via Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheRock/status/507189313579122689 That's right, Johnson will take the role of Black Adam, Shazam's arch-nemesis. He won't just be a villain though, as he also teased that Black Adam will be an anti-hero in this iteration. The character was given similar attributes in the New 52 relaunch, so this makes sense and gives Johnson plenty of material to play with on screen. It's still unclear whether or not the Shazam film will tie into the Justice League and the rest of the DC Cinematic Universe, or when the film is expected to hit theaters. All signs point toward it hitting cinemas in 2016, but that could change depending on Warner Brothers' long-term DC plan. No director has been attached, though Turbo and Jack the Giant Slayer scribe Darren Lemke has been attached to pen the script.
