10 Biggest Reveals From Disney's D23 Expo 2015

2. Colin Trevorrow Will Direct Star Wars Episode IX

Another major piece of news, although not entirely unprecedented. Colin Trevorrow (fresh from directing Jurassic World, 2015's biggest movie to date) was previously rumoured in relation to a Star Wars directing gig only a month ago, but D23 once again solidified suspicion with an official announcement. Trevorrow will direct the Episode IX from a script by Rian Johnson, marking the first time he'll helm a feature away from regular writing partner Derek Connolly (who could still become involved at a later date). Trevorrow obviously looks like a safe pair of hands after the rampant success of Jurassic World. I enjoyed Trevorrow's work on the dino sequel, and whilst it hardly burst with personality, the sequel superseded the workmanlike effort I was expecting. If Johnson's script has a nice flavour, then a similar job here should suffice. Star Wars: Episode IX isn't mooted to hit screens until 2019.
