1. An Official Drew Struzan Star Wars: The Force Awakens Poster Was Revealed
Artist Drew Struzan is no stranger to the Star Wars universe, having designed the posters for the Special Edition re-releases of the original trilogy and the one-sheets for each of the prequels. D23 gave us a chance to soak up his work for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and it didn't disappoint. There's less going on here than I was expected, but it still retains a traditional and exciting feel. Struzan's aim was clearly to mesh the new and old together, with Han Solo overlooked by a trio of incoming characters. The key reveal in the poster is the sight of John Boyega's Finn wielding a blue lightsaber, confirming he'll be in command of the weapon at some point. The poster sums up what we're expecting from The Force Awakens, namely a bridge from one chapter to the next. It's not 100% if this is just a D23 special or the actual one-sheet, but there's no denying Struzan's designs have become central to the Star Wars canon. Seeing his inks and compositions charted as D23's most exciting reveal, and hammered home that The Force Awakens is really just around the corner.
