3. Riz Ahmed's Mystery Marvel Role - Venom

The announcement of a Tom Hardy-starring Venom movie was met with much surprise earlier this year.

Fans questioned how such a standalone project could exist, given that Spider-Man currently resides in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Venom - based on everything we know - does not.

Still, the project is chugging along just fine, and, as though Sony is attempting to silence the naysayers, the studio has assembled one hell of a cast to work on the project, including Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, and Tom "Bane" Hardy in the title role.

It's Ahmed's role in particular that's caused quite a stir - we don't have a clue who he's playing. When Variety first reported that the actor was in talks, the site mentioned that he'd be playing "a popular Marvel Comics character". Soon after, the speculation began to heat up.

It's been strongly rumoured that Ahmed will be playing Carnage - prolific Spider-Man villain - since that character has already been confirmed to be part of the Venom movie. However, The Tracking Board threw a spanner in the works by stating that Ahmed "is a bit of a... chameleon", leading many think he might actually be playing The Chameleon, another popular Spider-Man baddie.

Venom doesn't come out until next October so we have a long, long way to go before we see it, and since many outlets have reported that the reveal of Ahmed's character will be a surprise twist in the film, we have an equally long way to go before we find out who he's actually playing.
