10 Biggest WTF Moments In Suspiria
5. Thom Yorke's Score
As alluded to earlier, Yorke's score for this film is nothing short of brilliant. Making his film scoring debut, Yorke goes all out here, creating entire frenetic and anxiety-ridden soundscapes that perfectly capture the energy and atmosphere of Guadagnino's visuals.
There are a handful of moments from the score that stand out as especially entrancing or effective but probably the most notably WTF moments come in the form of Yorke's fully-fledged songs.
York goes above and beyond the call of duty here, opting to not only populate the film with his score and themes but also with a couple of full songs with lyrics and vocals as well. The first use of one of these comes during the film's opening credit sequence as Suspirium, a tender and eerie ballad, plays over the top of it.
The most WTF use of these songs though comes during the finale (we'll get to that more properly in just a minute) when amidst all the carnage and chaos, the film cues up Yorke's Unmade, a soothing, piano-driven song. It creates this intense juxtaposition between the brutality of what's on-screen and the reserved melancholy of the music.
