10 Bizarre Movie Moments You Just Accepted
6. Django Uses Dynamite… Before It Arrived In America - Django Unchained
Going down in 1858, Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained ends with an explosive finale as the titular hero blows up Candyland with the dynamite he'd planted around the mansion.
There's just one easily overlooked problem with this epic end to Tarantino's violent western, though. The fact Django even had access to dynamite at this point in time is about as bizarre as it gets.
Said fiery tool wasn't actually invented until 1867, meaning that it wasn't available in the US during Django's exploding of Calvin J. Candie's land.
That being said, very few gave a damn about this historical inaccuracy when the time came for Django to take down the plantation, with the visual of the building going up in flames as Django watches on with a smoke in his mouth being too epic to pick at.
The fact this movie clearly goes down in Tarantino's alternate universe could also explain why his titular gunslinger was able to get his hands on an explosive device that hadn't even been made at that point in human history.
Simply put, Tarantino does what he wants... and he wanted dynamite, dammit.
