10 Blatant Paycheck Movie Roles (That Were AWESOME)

9. Jeremy Irons - Dungeons & Dragons

It's safe to say that as a veteran of both stage and screen, with a Best Actor Oscar to his name no less, nobody expected to see the great Jeremy Irons starring in a movie based on the hit role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons.

Irons was at least well-cast as the villainous wizard Profion, and to his credit gives a gloriously snarling, hamming-to-the-rafters performance which leaves no piece of on-set scenery un-chewed.

Irons knows he's starring in a dumpster fire and just has fun with it, going full panto villain as he screams with relish, "Let their blood rain from the sky!"

Though he ended up receiving a Worst Supporting Actor nomination at the Stinkers Bad Movie Awards for his efforts, he's easily the most entertaining aspect of the film, and freely admitted in later interviews that he did it solely for the cash.

When once asked about the film, Irons reportedly said, "Are you kidding? I'd just bought a castle, I had to pay for it somehow!"

Yet rather than lazily sleepwalk his way to a payday on sheer name recognition alone, he decided to have some diabolical fun with it - and thank God.
