10 Blockbuster Stars We Don't Give Enough Credit As Actors

8. Channing Tatum

Channing Tatum has comedic chops. He's actually a funny guy. Who knew? Because for years, we were all under the impression that the buff pretty boy action star was more or less as far as he could stretch himself dramatically speaking. Then 21 Jump Street came out, and an entirely new world opened up. Who was this affable guy, willing to play into the dumb jock stereotype, with such lovably adorable chemistry with Jonah Hill? Look, Channing Tatum may not be in line for an Academy Award anytime soon. He doesn't have a long history of traditional acting training, like some of the other people on this list do. But when it comes right down to it, he's a charming guy who has the ability to wear a number of different hats, and can slide from genre to genre with ease. He's equally comfortable in an action movie, a Nicholas Sparks weeper, a raunchy comedy, or a dance film. And that's not something you can say about every actor who comes along. Talent means nothing if you can only do one thing -- versatility is what keeps an actor from being just a flavour of the week.
