10 Blockbusters From 2016 That Should Win Oscars (But Won't)

8. Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice (Best Cinematography)

Why It Should Win: Say what you will about Batman v Superman, but Larry Fong lensed the ever-loving hell out of it. Sure, a lot of the gorgeous vistas are CGI-assisted as is always controversial in this branch (though it didn't stop Life of Pi from winning the award in 2013), but almost every shot in the movie could be hung on a wall as art, which is pretty much the definition of incredible cinematography.

How director Zack Snyder stitched those shots together, however, is a wholly different story.

Why It Won't: Though this category is quite blockbuster-friendly, the overwhelmingly vitriolic reception to the movie has probably infected Academy voters as well, and considering that none of Fong's prior collaborations with Snyder (300, Watchmen and Sucker Punch) got Oscar love, it's not likely his luck will change here.
