10 Blockbusters From 2016 That Should Win Oscars (But Won't)

3. Finding Dory (Best Original Score)

Kubo And The Two Strings Oscar
Pixar

Why It Should Win: Legendary composer Thomas Newman is a thirteen-time Oscar nominee and zero-time winner. How poetic would it be for Newman, who was nominated for Finding Nemo's score back in 2004, to actually win the gong outright for its sequel?

On top of this, the score itself is beautifully poignant and compliments the movie perfectly, so why not give Newman his long-deserved moment on the podium?

Why It Won't: Newman will face stiff competition from his regular rival Alexandre Desplat (The Light Between Oceans), not to mention Johann Johansson (Arrival), Michael Giacchino (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and countless others, so they will probably make Newman the bridesmaid for the fourteenth time.
