10 Bold Film Predictions For 2016

5. Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them Will Contain A Dumbledore Cameo

This is totally going to happen. Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them €“ the first spin-off to the Harry Potter franchise €“ will contain a prominent cameo, and Dumbledore is the most likely candidate. Why? For a start, he was actually alive during the events of the film. Fantastic Beasts is set seventy years prior to events of Harry Potter, which means that Dumbledore would be around forty-five years old (yeah €“ Dumbledore was one-hundred and fifteen when he died €“ who knew?). In terms of prime candidates for a main character cameo, this puts Dumblefore far and away at the top of the list. In fact, Michael Gambon will almost certainly reprise the role. We've seen what extensive use of make-up and CGI touch ups can do to older performers (one notably great recent example was the ageing and de-ageing of Ian McKellen in Mr Holmes). What really makes it likely that Gambon will return, however, is the fact that the film is being directed by David Yates. Yates directed every Harry Potter film from Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix onwards, which means he has a great relationship with the cast. Warner Bros. will want to connect Fantastic Beasts to the wider franchise as strongly as they can, so a Dumbledore cameo is practically guaranteed.
