10 Bold Predictions For Future DC Movies

10. An Actual Kid Will Be Cast As Robin

We already know that Jena Malone's scenes have been cut from Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, but that they will be released on the promised DVD extended edition. This being the case, it won't be long before we find out for sure whether she was cast as Barbara Gordon, daughter of Commissioner Gordon and former Batgirl infamously crippled by the Joker in The Killing Joke; or, as initially rumoured, Carrie Kelly, the female Robin of The Dark Knight Returns. But assuming Malone was actually cast as the former (which would make more sense, given she's 31 years old), wouldn't it be a turn-around for the books if Warner Bros/DC cast an actual teenage boy as the Boy Wonder? Burt Ward and Chris O'Donnell were both into their 20s when cast as Batman's sidekick, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt had already hit 30 when The Dark Knight Rises implied he was a Robin in waiting. If the new movies are as keen to honour the spirit of the comics as Zack Snyder and co keep saying, then surely it makes sense to cast an actor closer to the character's original age. After all, Sony and Marvel are making similar efforts with their new take on Spider-Man (although, at 19, new Spidey Tom Holland won't be a teen for long).
