10 Bonkers Theories About 2015’s Movies That Surely Can’t Be True

3. Ant-Man's Been Around All Along - Ant-Man

The Theory: Ant-Man may have only just made his MCU debut, but he's been a part of that bigger universe all along, secretly influencing and helping out in all the previous Marvel movies Why It's Believable: This theory popped up before the film hit, but with director Peyton Reed giving it a thumbs up it seems like there's some validity to it. The main reason it feels so "right" is that in the comics Ant-Man (and the Wasp) were founding members of the Avengers, something the delayed production of the film nixed. This retroactively works him into that role on a technicality, and is pretty hard to disprove given how Pym could have just been shrunk the whole time. Why It Can't Be True: OK, it's a nice idea, but, despite Marvel's sometimes loose keeping of canon, there's no way this can fit. Hank Pym had hung up the suit long before Tony Stark went into that cave, so quite how he could be fighting in all these adventures makes little sense. It's obviously very hard to disprove with the whole microscopic argument, but not being able to refute something doesn't work as proof of it. Let's just leave Marvel to their own, slightly more obvious Easter eggs.
