10 Brilliant Musical Movie Moments That Caught You Completely Off Guard

8. Phil's Piano Solo €“ Groundhog Day

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQLhORPoUJs The 1993 film Groundhog Day is a brilliant romantic comedy starring Bill Murray as Phil Connors, a TV weatherman stuck in a time loop on 'Groundhog Day' in the small town of Punxsutawney. The time loop in which Phil is stuck means he relives the same day over and over, resulting in a continuously repetitive setting which he uses to his advantage. One of the advantages of being in the time loop, is that Phil can learn and perfect new skills over a long period of time, but appear to know them already to those not in the loop. Ice-sculpting, the ability to speak French and Italian, and knowing every single person in Punxsutawney are all achieved by Phil over the course of the film. One extra skill which he learns is the ability to play piano. Having been stuck in the time loop for a considerable amount of time, he has perfected his musical ability. In the climactic scene of the film, Phil is seen on stage, performing to the entire population of Punxsutawney. His loveable character's piano solo has a strong comedic element, as only we know how he has reached such levels of musicianship.

I like writing about films and hope you like reading about them too. And watching them, of course.
