10 Brilliantly Versatile Actors With More Faces Than A Rubik's Cube

3. Christian Bale

Chrisbale Romantic husband? Check. Mentalist? Check. Drug addict? Check. Vigilante? Check. Gentleman? Check. Suave businessman? Check. Fraudster? Check. Check. Check. Check. Check. If you're trying to impress someone by calling Christian Bale a versatile actor, you might as well just claim that the sky is blue. You'll get the same puzzled reaction. It's a truism that Bale has a reputation as one of the most versatile actors in the world. Yet, just when you thought Bale had given a go at every kind of role imaginable, Ridley Scott has cast him in the upcoming biblical film "Exodus: Gods and Kings" as religious prophet Moses. Is there anybody that Bale can't be? Bale's ever-morphing body has been well documented throughout his career. The actor's weight has fluctuated enormously over the years, stripping down to his skeleton for his role as an insomniac in "The Machinist", before piling on the pounds for "Batman Begins", and fleshing way out for "American Hustle". He really has become known as a master of disguise, deeply immersing himself in a variety of taxing roles. Aside from looking different on the surface, Bale also manages to alternate his appearance through unique articulation and mannerisms. His pendulum-like performance in "American Psycho" sees him swing from sophisticated to psychotic, whereas his portrayal of deadbeat, drug-addled boxer Dickie Eklund in "The Fighter" perfectly captures a man consumed by addiction and driven by nostalgia. Seeing the real Dickie over the credits of the film reveals how aptly Bale portrays him. It's both eerie and admirable all at once.

Gaz Lloyd hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
