Soon enough he reaches out to his former comrades for help taking care of business, causing him and his aged buddies (Helen Mirren, John Malkovich and Morgan Freeman) to go on an armed assault against corrupt CIA agents. If John McClane wants to age gracefully, this is probably how; the film veers heavily on the tongue-in-cheek side, but also has plenty of sly humour that would fit well within the Die Hard universe. Best of all is his chemistry with Sarah (Mary-Louise Parker), who could serve as McLane's new love interest if he's finally conceded that Holly won't ever take him back.
