10 Cancelled Comic Book Movies That Sound Insanely Good
9. X-Men Vs Fantastic Four
While the X-Men franchise was given an almighty shot in the arm by Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class, when he came to the table, it was a little lost thanks to X-Men Origins and The Last Stand and Fox were entertaining other ideas to simply rebooting the characters, including a major cross-over between the X-Men and the Fantastic Four.
Back in 2010, while First Class was in pre-production, Fox were planning to build to a crossover event pitting the two superhero teams against one another in a story very heavily leaning on the Civil War comics arc. In a film directed by Paul Greengrass, Johnny Storm would have unwittingly caused a catastrophe in New York while trying to take down Molecule Man, inciting the government to bring in a superhero registration act.
Heroes - also including Daredevil and Deadpool - would have taken sides and there would have been a climactic fight in which Mr Fantastic fought Wolverine and literally declawed him by chopping both of his hands off. In the end, peace broke out, but a post-credits scene would have immediately set up a Skrull invasion.
Unfortunately for anyone who wanted to see that, First Class did so well that Fox decided to keep X-Men as a stand-alone property and Days Of Future Past followed instead.
