10 Cancelled Movies That Would Have Made Billions

3. Star Wars: Droids

Star Wars: Droids might not seem like the most marketable Star Wars-based idea ever, but deployed at the right time - at the height of Star Wars fever or during a Star Wars drought - and it certainly could have generated a colossal amount at the box office.

The movie itself, conceived by George Lucas as a spin-off picture, would have featured only droids (that's right: no humans), with - as you probably guessed - C-3PO and R2-D2 taking the lead roles. Instead of a film, though, Star Wars: Droids eventually wound up as a TV series of the animated kind (using the same title, albeit with a extra subtitle that denoted "The Adventures of C-3PO and R2-D2").

Had Lucas plugged this spin-off right smack in the middle of the time period separating Return of the Jedi and The Phantom Menace (as originally planned), there's no doubt that the return of Star Wars would have resulted in a lot of cash flow - even if the other, more human characters were nowhere to be seen, and fans had to make do with just robots for company.
