10 Cancelled Star Wars Projects That Were Devastating
3. Star Wars 1313
Star Wars 1313 was to be the video game tie-in with Star Wars: Underworld, and would have taken place in the seedy underbelly of Coruscant. The game suffered a considerable amount of internal struggles, especially with George Lucas meddling with its story. Initially, the game would have centered around Rak Jaren, a young bounty hunter, and would have told a completely new story set on the 1,313th level of the capital planet. But, when Lucas was shown the project, he insisted the protagonist should be Boba Fett, which threw LucasArts into disarray.
With Lucas' insistence on making such a major change to the game, LucasArts had to work even harder than they were to appease their boss. During E3 in 2012, a demo for the game was showcased, which featured Rak Jaren as the protagonist, with no mention of Fett at all, indicating how late in the day George Lucas enforced this character change.
Things only got worse from there. Once Lucas sold the space opera, all Star Wars projects were thrown into a a strange purgatory, with no one knowing whether the projects they had been working on would be released. Sadly for Star Wars 1313, Disney laid off the majority of the team at LucasArts, deciding to instead license out the IP to EA, leading to the death of the game in 2013.
