10 Casting Decisions Fanboys Rallied Against (And Were Right About)

4. Ben Affleck - Matt Murdock - Daredevil

Daredevil Sorry, Ben. It'd be unfair to write a list of this kind without mentioning you. To be fair, though, Ben Affleck is hardly the worst thing about Daredevil - there's so much bad going on with this mind-blowingly misguided take on an iconic comic book character that it sometimes feels like the sum of a strange dream. That's to say, Ben Affleck fails to find the right tone for his interpretation of blind superhero Matt Murdock (too much smarminess, and nowhere near enough charm), but can you really blame him? The whole thing is a mess. Ben's performance here hails from his "before he was a good actor" days - he was yet to have given us some seriously great movies and we didn't really know that he was capable of actually being good in a movie. He's come a long way since the playground fight in this flick, though. Were fans right to rally against Ben as Daredevil before they saw him? Probably not. Were their worst suspicions confirmed about six minutes into the movie? Absolutely. It's a horrible interpretation of the Daredevil character in a horribly interpreted movie. Do you remember Colin Farrell in this? You totally need to Google what Colin Farrell looked like in this.
