10 Casting Decisions Fanboys Rallied Against (But Ended Up Adoring)

8. Daniel Craig - James Bond - Casino Royale (2005)

Casino Royale After the tragedy that was Die Another Day, somebody with a brain decided that whatever they were doing with the James Bond franchise was no longer working, and it was probably a good idea if they, like, rebooted it and made it similar to the hot action movies of the time, such as The Bourne Identity. With a fresh slate, however, came a fresh Bond, which meant saying farewell to Pierce Brosnan's very smarmy (and very '90s) take on the character. Which, as you'll probably imagine, didn't go down well with lots of fans, although many were still excited to find out who would take on the role next, until they found out that it was - no! - Daniel Craig. Aside from looking nothing like James Bond at all, what with his blonde hair and rugged good looks, this - for many - was seen as a sure-fire end to the franchise. Which was totally wrong, of course, given that he just starred in the biggest Bond movie ever.
