10 Casting Decisions Fanboys Rallied Against (But Ended Up Adoring)

7. Jennifer Lawrence - Katniss Everdeen - The Hunger Games (2012)

Sometimes people find the weirdest things to rally against, as was the case when Jennifer Lawrence - who everybody in the world seems to collectively agree is awesome now - was cast as Katniss Everdeen, the main protagonist in Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games novels. What was the big problem that everybody had with te lovely Lawrence, then? Bizarrely, that she was white, and that the character in the books was "racially ambiguous." Which doesn't really make sense, given that - if she were racially ambiguous - what would it matter if she were white? Doesn't "ambiguous" denote that she could be any race, including white? Whatever - fans wanted a non-Texan with "olive skin," 'cause that's what it said in the book. That was until they actually got a glimpse of ol' Jennifer in the role, and suddenly realised that, oh wait, this girl is the perfect Katniss, and can we marry her?
