10 Casting Decisions The Dark Tower Film Must Get Right

4. Cuthbert Allgood

Roland's best friend in his younger days, there's a chance we might not see Allgood on the big screen - Stephen King has said that information about Roland's backstory (largely told in the series' fourth book, Wizard & Glass) is being saved for a potential tie-in TV show. That said, those TV show rumours have been around for years and still nothing has been confirmed, so we might still see Allgood on the big screen, depending on the direction the films take. He would certainly adjust the tone a bit; he's the joker of the pack, using humour even in tense situations (although he's still a good fighter - deadly with a slingshot - and a loyal and brave ally) Ideal Casting: Aaron Tayor-Johnson Tayor-Johnson has the easy-going nature to make a good Allgood, and would be believeable as a top glass gunslinger. The only problem is he might be too young to be believable as the childhood friend of Idris Elba's Roland. Back Up Casting: Kit Harrington The Game Of Thrones actor has the right look for a character often depicted with dark eyes and hair, and his work as Jon Snow means he's certainly believable as a loyal and noble fighter. However, it's that role that makes it difficult to picture him portraying the light side of Allgood. Try to imagine Harrington cracking constant jokes. Hard, isn't it?
