8. Give Out A Best Stunt Performance Award
This is a category introduction that is long overdue. Instead of continuing discussions on how to introduce a ‘Popular Movie’ category, awards should instead be given out for best stunt performances; either for a single performer or by an ensemble.
It’s likely most of these nominations will be from popular movies, so it would work to reward specific performers for their craft in those movies rather than giving out participation trophies to Marvel films. Stunts are a huge part of making so many incredible films as visibly engaging as they are, and take just as much skill as other elements of production.
The SAG awards introduced this category way back in 2007 and there’s no good reason for the Academy not catching up over the last 12 years.
