The casting of the young actor spurred so much controversy, but really much of this is unfounded. In 2010s The Social Network he played Facebooks founder Mark Zuckerberg, while in Dawn Of Justice his Lex Luthor will be a self made millionaire, and leaked set images show his face plastered across magazine covers. Eisenberg is in the enviable position of being able to draw from his previous perfomance in order to shape his latest role. Given how iconic Lex Luthor is, it is important that he approaches this individually, maintaining the key tenets of the character. He needs to be greedy and determined, charismatic and confident. In Now You See Me, the actor oozed this sense of confidence, and he certainly has the gravitas to pull audiences into his performance. Likewise, in Louis Leterrier's magic heist flick he showed a sinister smile to indicate that he was one step ahead of the police - surely his perfomance as Lex Luthor will benefit from this.
