10 Characters For Marvel Studios To Explore The Supernatural
4. Morbius: The Living Vampire
Possibly the most popular supernatural creature is vampires, and Marvel's got one of their own in the form of Morbius. Fans of the 90s Spider-Man cartoon will probably remember this guy, with those weird mouth things on the palms of his hand and his craving for "plasma" (because Fox felt kids couldn't handle a vampire who actually used his fangs or the word blood).
The comics has some similarities with that version. Suffering from a rare blood disease, Nobel Prize-winning biochemist Michael Morbius attempted to develop a cure for himself. But instead, he accidentally transformed himself into a pseudo-vampire with a need for blood.
A tragic character, Morbius constantly struggles with his curse. In order to sate his bloodlust, he'll usually try and restrict himself to consuming the blood of criminals.
With the scientific origins to his powers, Morbius serves as a useful crossover character, much in the same was as Moon Knight. He's got a close friendship with Jack Russell and as a pseudo-vampire, he's gone up against Marvel's most famous vampire hunter, Blade.
Morbius was once slated to gain his own adaptation in an agreement Marvel had with Artisan and later he was intended to be the antagonist in Blade II. Obviously neither of those ever came to pass, so let's get Marvel's Living Vampire on the big or small screen already.
