10 Characters For Marvel Studios To Explore The Supernatural
5. Brother Voodoo
Why have one Master of the Mystic Arts when you can have two? While Doctor Strange is busy protecting the realms, there's no reason you can't also have one-time Sorcerer Supreme Brother Voodoo doing his own thing.
When Jericho Drumm, a psychologist, returns to his native Haiti, he discovers the local houngan is dying - who also happens to be his brother, Daniel. As per Daniel's last wish, Jericho studies voodoo under Papa Jambo and Daniel's spirit is joined with Jericho. After avenging his brother's death, Jericho takes on the name Brother Voodoo and becomes Haiti's houngan.
Voodoo is only touched on a little bit in media these days. There were some references to it in American Horror Story: Coven, but with everything that's happened to Haiti and New Orleans (another frequent base for Brother Voodoo) in recent history, giving them their own superhero that draws on the cultural histories would be really interesting.
And if some people don't like the name Brother Voodoo, you could easily go with Drumm's later moniker, Doctor Voodoo, or just use Voodoo on its own. A franchise like this could also add some much-needed diversity in the MCU. What Luke Cage has done for Harlem, Jericho Drumm could do for New Orleans.
