10 Characters Marvel Studios Can't Currently Use (And Why It Sucks)

2. Norman Osborn

There was talk of the Oscorp building appearing as an Easter egg in the backdrop of the Avengers movie, but that didn't occur due to timing issues and some rights issues. Therefore, if that posed a problem, having Norman Osborn himself appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is obviously a long way off. Now, we know Osborn is a major antagonist and therefore is quite "obvious", but what isn't so obvious is that he isn't just a Spider-Man antagonist like most people think - he is the leader of the Dark Avengers in the comic books and therefore a key Avengers foe - and it would be fantastic to see him putting together a superhero team in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that, unknown to the public in its fictional universe, contains several members who are supervillains disguised as established superheroes. It would be somewhat like HYDRA's infiltration of S.H.I.E.L.D. but on a more powerful and threatening scale, and that would be awesome. His exclusion from the Marvel Cinematic Universe also deprives us of stories like Siege - which was a great arc in which Osborn leads Sentry/The Void on an invasion of Asgard - and that would be excellent to see on screen. Still, we've got him to look forward to in the Amazing Spider-Man 2 and beyond, where he will be played by the brilliant Chris Cooper, so it's not all doom and gloom.
