10 Characters The DCEU Wishes It Could've Introduced Differently

9. Black Adam

Another big lesson here: don't go really hard on introducing characters if you don't 100% definitely know how or when you're going to get to use them.

That Dwayne Johnson is going to be playing supervillain/anti-hero Black Adam has been known since before Shazam (the movie it'll inevitably be tied to) was even cast. This is old news now, and even the announcement that director Jaume Collet-Serra has been brought on board isn't going to revitalise interest. The best piece of marketing they had for this film was 'NEWSFLASH: The Rock Is Playing A Superhero' and they wasted it years ago.

Shazam was brilliant, Black Adam will likely be just as good, but wasting the big announcement years ahead of time is a PR own goal DC will desperately wish they could undo. Had they followed up the positive critical reception of Shazam with a headline-grabbing reveal for Johnson's sequel, it would be one of next year's most anticipated movies.

As it stands, it's just sort of floating around in a confusing middle ground.
