10 Characters Who Should Appear In Spider-Man: Homecoming
4. Kraven
While the Vulture has been rumoured to be the villain of Homecoming, it’s still a little hard to completely buy him as a main antagonist. Instead, it would be far easier to think that he’s only a secondary threat to someone much more intimidating, someone like Kraven the Hunter.
In terms of his characterization especially, Kraven is a great counterpoint to Spider-Man. He’s direct, experienced, silent, and intimidating, all things that Spider-Man is not. In this, he highlights Spider-Man’s attributes and shows why they make him such a special hero.
Kraven is also a great foe to adapt for a first film because of his versatility. He can easily be dumbed down to a physical threat that simply wants Spider-Man dead as a trophy but can also be elevated into a cunning strategist if the film has room for it.
That sort of elevated villainy as seen in the iconic story “Kraven’s Last Hunt,” is a good example of why so many fans are clamouring for his inclusion. It proved Kraven to be both an unrelenting physical force and a master thinker who completely bested Spider-Man in a way few villains ever had, making him a promising foe to include on screen.
