10 Characters Who Were Massively Improved In Sequels
8. Thor - Thor Ragnarok
One of the most well structured characters built into the MCU, Thor starts out as a bit of an arrogant dick - far overestimating himself to the point that he's banished from his homeland to get some perspective.
The only way is up for a jock with a personality problem however, and Thor soon learns his lesson in each and every film he subsequently appears in. Of course, Thor's best improvement is by far best realised in Thor: Ragnarok, where he has to face the destruction of Asgard and learn to accept defeat before he can continue to grow again.
Chris Hemsworth plays the Norse God as hilarious as he's ever been, a goofy joker as much as he is a brooding thunderous hero thanks to Taika Waititi's reimagining. It's this dichotomy between genuinely terrible events and Thor's belief that he can fix everything with swaggering humour that provide the most interesting moments in the movie - and as Waititi has said himself:
"There's no point calling the movie Thor if he's not the coolest thing in it." Ragnarok made that entirely true.
