10 Child Stars That Actually Made It Through Okay

1. Jodie Foster

Break-Out Role: Taxi Driver 2 Oscars, 3 BAFTAs, 3 Golden Globes and an SAG - and she started acting when she was a mere 3 years old. Much like Natalie Portman would go on to do with Leon, Jodie Foster's first role of merit was one of much controversy. She played a pre-teen prostitute in Taxi Driver at just 13 years of age, after all. Since then, she's become, in my opinion at least, the most successful child star of all-time, netting a slew of awards whilst still managing to maintain a private life. People may criticize her shyness of celebrity, but she has got Hollywood in the palm of her hand. Few people can claim to have conquered the curse of child stardom, become an acclaimed adult performer, be a legitimately bankable star and still not be in the public eye at every second of the day. In fact, Foster might be the only person to make such a claim. When watching The Accused or The Silence of the Lambs, it's hard to swallow the fact that she was just a cute little kid in commercials once upon a time. Whilst she may also have directed a film that saw Mel Gibson befriend a beaver puppet (the aptly named "The Beaver"), she is an undeniable success - one who absolutely deserves the number 1 spot. So there you have it, are there any child stars that you think are runaway successes nowadays? Who would you put on your list?
