10 Christian Perspectives On 2015's Movies

2. Jurassic World - "Can Be Used To Promote A Biblical Worldview!"

One viewer chided Jurassic Park for its “unceasing barrage of evolutionist propaganda, including casual references to man and dinosaurs being separated by 65 million years”, but Jurassic World keeps the “propaganda” to a minimum – understandably, given the presence of Indominus Rex – and instead offers a satire on consumerism. In this movie, it is “products” (which is what the I-Rex is) that mankind has to fear, not evolution.

In fact, a modern viewer claimed the movie could be used to introduce children to the Bible, where dinosaurs are mentioned. Don’t believe there are dinosaurs in the good book? Job 40: 15-24 introduces Behemoth, a creature that “makes his tail stiff like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are knit together. His bones are tubes of bronze; his limbs like bars of iron. He is the first of the works of God.”

“These mighty creatures can be a great teaching tool,” concluded the viewer. “They can, sadly, be be used to promote a Darwinian Evolutionary worldview, but they can also be used to promote a Biblical worldview.”
