10 Christmas Horror Movies You Must See Before You Die

3. Silent Night, Deadly Night

In €˜80s B-movie Silent Night, Deadly Night, young Billy tragically witnesses a robber dolled up in Santa garb mercilessly murder his parents on Christmas Eve. Subsequently raised in a Catholic nun run orphanage (which is bound to mess up any kid), Billy develops a rather strange relationship with Santa and Christmastime in general and as a young adult, dons a Santa suit himself and starts exacting his rage on his town. So far, so Christmas Evil right? Kind of, but at least the kid didn€™t have to witness his parents having festive sex and while its predecessor managed to avoid controversy Silent Night, Deadly Night stirred quite a few pots. In fact, when its original trailer depicting an axe wielding Santa started to make the rounds American parents gathered in hordes to picket the film€™s unwholesome content fearing the effect it might have on their precious snowflakes. Cheesy and kitsch it may be, but it did go on to spawn four (yes, four) sequels and where else can you see such festive kills as strangulation by fairy lights or decapitation while sledding?
