Normally, I steer away from Ben Affleck films in general after having seen Gigli, but him starring alongside Charlize Theron gave me enough reason to give it a watch. The film begins with several dead men dressed as Santa Claus displayed in various positions. Try explaining to your kids that there is more than one Santa, never mind why they are all dead. Prisoners Nick and Rudy await release from jail, with Nick awaiting a lady who he had never met, but had written many letters to. When Nick is killed in a prison uprising, Rudy assumes his identity and takes the girl for his own, which isn't very much keeping in the Christmas spirit. The film consists of lies, betrayal and gang battles, with Rudy realising that choosing to live his old friend's life was a dangerous mistake. Affleck should have felt the same way when he read the script.
