8. Prince Of Darkness
Coming after The Thing and preceding In The Mouth of Madness; Prince of Darkness, the second movie in Carpenter's apocalypse trilogy is one of my favourite films in existence by far. Mixing quantum physics with Manichean dualism to create the supernatural is something that, though quite prevalent among the thoughts of modern witches and warlocks, sadly isn't used too much in cinema. Perhaps because quantum mechanics does indeed seem to border on the supernatural, and therefore hits, or is that haunts, too close to home. For all its merit, though, this movie almost didn't make the list. Thankfully the Devil, or rather the Anti-God does put in a somewhat brief appearance and before we are given this we are treated to a thoroughly entertaining piece of modern horror. Oh, and a murderous Hobo that looks like Alice Cooper.
