10 Classic Film Characters Who Didn't Have As Much Screen-Time As You Thought

8. Fantine - Les Miserables

Anne Hathaway made huge news in 2012 for her role as Fantine, in the latest Les Miserables adaptation; the media caught onto her 25lb weight loss and her radical haircut for the part, and she eventually scooped an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. Despite the grueling diet that Hathaway went on for this part though - one that she refuses to discuss, because it was apparently life-threatening - she only appears in the movie for 15 minutes. She's the third actor on the credits, after Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe, but again, she's only in 10% of the movie. It's incredible just how career-defining a role Fantine has become for Hathaway; she had barely any screen-time at all, but it was her dedication to the part that left a lasting impression with the public and critics a-like.
