10 Classic Movies You Had No Idea Were Being Remade
8. The Fugitive
Warner Bros. are finally moving forward with a remake of The Fugitive, which will put a new spin on the 90s crime drama. The original film starred Harrison Ford as Dr. Richard Kimble, a vascular surgeon who is unjustly accused of murdering his wife.
After escaping death row, he sets out to find the real killer all while U.S. Marshal Samuel Gerard (Tommy Lee Jones) is hot on his trail.
The Fugitive has such a ridiculous plot, but its constant, entertaining action remains grounded in reality. While we don’t know how they’ll change the plot, hopefully they’ll recreate the famous bus-train crash near the start of the film, which was actually real and shot in one take with 27 cameras.
In addition to this, there’s also another remake of The Fugitive coming this year. An updated version of the story is being developed for Quibi, a new streaming service for shortform media. Blue collar worker Mike Ferro (Boyd Holbrook) is accused of blowing up an LA subway station as false accusations on social media play out in real time. Kiefer Sutherland plays Detective Clay Bryce who sets out to hunt down Mike.
There is currently no confirmed released date for either, though Quibi is set to launch in April.
