10 Classic Special Effects That Put Modern Hollywood To Shame

2. An American Werewolf In London

American Werewolf I have always loved werewolf movies, and I had a hard time deciding if this film or The Howling (which is another personal favorite) should occupy this slot on my list as both of them have extremely awesome scenes involving someone changing into a werewolf in them. After thinking long and hard about it I came to the conclusion that Rick Baker€™s work on this movie was just a tad bit more impressive. There is a scene involving David Naughton initially turning into the beast that just has to be seen to be believed on many levels. Some pretty amazing things take place during his transformation (such as the stretching of his face and hands) without the use of any CGI effects that cemented Baker€™s reputation as one of the best special effects guys in the business. I€™ve seen a ton of werewolf transformation scenes from different movies over the years and this one still ranks up there as the best ever. Not surprisingly Baker won several awards (including an Oscar) as well as a legion of fans as a result of this film.
