8. Wendigo

The curse of the Wendigo transforms a person into a beast with superhuman strength and an advanced healing factor. The Wendigo first appeared in The Incredible Hulk alongside the debut of Wolverine which is exactly why this character should not be introduced in an X-film.

As one of the only remaining Avengers, sending Hulk to confront a mysterious beast in the Canadian wilderness can lead to the introduction of Alpha Flight and Wolverine, without needlessly involving the X-Men.

A huge benefit of the Wendigo is that the individual receiving the curse can be nearly any character, new or established. The Wendigo could be a mild-mannered researcher or scientist, someone not so different from Bruce Banner.

While a team like Alpha Flight would seek to take down the beast, Smart Hulk’s intervention would attempt to save the man from his curse by any means possible. Smart Hulk needs a new character arc, and if he's going to mentor a team such as the Young Avengers, a mission to peacefully stop the Wendigo would give his story a natural and exciting continuation.
