5. Esther Keeps Hinting At Her True Identity - Orphan
Devasted by the loss of their baby, Oprhan sees John and Kate Coleman decide to adopt a nine-year-old orphan called Esther. Though John adores Esther, Kate suspects the girl harbours a dark side. And when locals start winding up dead, Kate realises her whole family is in danger.
Though it's not a surprise when Esther is outed as a serial killer, that's not the only thing she's hiding. In the third act, it's unveiled that Esther is a 33-year-old with a hormone disorder that makes her resemble a child.
On a first viewing, Ester's true identity is a major jaw-dropper, but after watching Orphan again, this bombshell was self-evident.
Esther takes a long time to get ready for the day because she needs to apply makeup to look younger. On top of that, she wears frilly clothes to hide her adult figure. She also cuts her meals in tiny pieces because she has difficulty eating with her milk-teeth dentures, which is also why she refuses to go to the dentist. Though Esther seems like a prodigy since she's a gifted singer, painter, pianist, and linguist, it's because she's had decades to fine-tune her talents.
